JRES Library Procedures
Entering the Library
Enter the library on a ZERO voice level and in a single file line please. Please be considerate of other students and teachers who use the library. The library is part of the entire school learning community, and we want to be sure everyone has an enjoyable experience when they use it. Although the library is a very exciting place, please do not run. Running can cause someone to get hurt.

Library Rules
Listening During Story Time
It is always very important to keep our hands to ourselves and listen during story time. Please be respectful of the learning of others and remain still and quite. If you are moving around, touching others, or talking, you will miss out on a funny, scary, or thrilling story that Mrs. Webb has picked out for you to hear.

Choosing a Book
5 Finger Rule
When choosing a book, it is a good practice to remember the 5 Finger Rule. Please try to use this rule when choosing at least one of your library books. Choosing a book you can comfortably read and enjoy will help you grow as a reader and learn to love books! I Pick My Books at JRES Media Center

Students in kindergarten and 1st grade may check out 1 book between the beginning of school and winter break. Depending upon how well the groups follow the rules for returning and taking care of their library books, students may have the opportunity to begin checking out two books after winter break.
Students in 2nd thru 6th grades may check out 2 books. All books are due back by the following week. Students may renew their library books for up to three weeks. If the library book is a high demand book, please be considerate of others who may want to read the book as well and and turn it in at the end of the three week renewal period. When coming to the library at a time that is not your scheduled library time (open checkout), you must have a library pass and their lanyard. Students without a library pass will be asked to go back to class to retrieve those items before they are allowed to check out books. Why is a Shelf Marker Important?
